Here? These are double circuit PB SS0 (but are modified), photos taken on the A19 near Thirsk. Croydon outfit EDS are the people that did the modifacation plans. The same double circuit crosses the new A1M near Wetherby on metal and wooden poles near where that much discussed 132kV L3DS set cross on their way to Harrogate.

Man, these 1950's things aren't good looking. About as pretty as a bulldog chewing a wasp.

EDS are also responsible for that modified Riley & Neate 132kV set and the strengthening of the JL Eve D3 66kV stuff as often reported by the OP in many of his fieldtrips..

Nice pics. Don't these 1950's PB SS0 babies look strange (but maybe we are all used to the 'traditional' type pylon?). The modded double circuit efforts look dreadful.

Those are just gantries being used as pylons. That is really weird.

I cannot identify those gantries. There are two at Welwyn Substation as intermediate termination of a 132 kV PL16 double-circuit line, serving as STs (one of the valid functions of gantries). The Tower Bible is missing all the gantry drawings; there are several Blaw Knox gantries listed, but the TOC does not indicate whether they are PL4 or PL16, both BK types. I have seen those same gantries on a Eve (L16 I suppose) crossing. This is another unidentifiable gantry, kind of BICC-like, also used with PL16: www.flickr.com/photos/tonysummers1/33375268198/

There is a single circuit line in Ireland (near Dublin) with PL-style flat formation angle towers and intermediate double wood poles, akin to what you found. One of the angle towers:

However, PB does have its own angle towers so this has more of a feel of a line reconfiguration.
