Nice mix of PL16 goodness it just goes to show that there is more to look at than just the standard towers as per the tower diagram book aka the bible.
That junction tower looks similar to the one I looked at last week at Winwick with the exception that the Winwick one had extra angled stub arms to allow it to be a true 3 way tee junction tower.
The single line junction to the tower is interesting as well.
Thanks Paul

I did find another PL16 junction tower near Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge in Wiltshire which has now been replaced with an L4 one. I've looked at your thread, it might have happened the same way that's going to happen with the weird tower at Winwick. Thanks Christopher

Is that "single line" a fibreoptic comms cable by any chance. It goes through the middle of one of that D30 in one of the shots. PL16 J60? PL16 DJ60?? Two examples in one week! The terminal tower is a bog standard Blaw Knox PL16DT. Note the 2 earthwires though. All in all similar to the PL16 shehanigans posted up by yv47r earlier on in the week. Neat x2. Nice photos. (OT) A place called Midsomer Norton? There hasn't been someone strung up off a pylon, PL16 or otherwise, in any of Barnaby's capers up until now. Must go and write a script starring a Mr Knox ;D Les

(OT) Death by D60 ;D I wonder why they didn't bother to develop a true PL series DJ90 junction tower for the 132kV series of towers?? Even if it was only one design say by Blaw Knox, think of their PL16 DT, which for many 132kV lines became the standard design of terminal tower for new non PL16 lines until the L4M design DT was introduced. Cheers Paul

There's a what could be described as a PL16 DJ90EC near St. Fergus and is described as such by the OP. This baby uses a seperate pole to split the (double) circuits. As for "Death by D60" I'll get my old English writing skills into gear and start a Flash & Fortran production of Midsomer Norton Murders off in the OT section I'll probably make up a few more as I go along but - B.Knox, pylon designer, is found hanged from one of his own creations, the said D60. By a length of ,175" AACR. And a string of brown ceramic insulators tied to his feet. Cue Flash Barnaby and her trusty sidekick Inspector Fortran. Many suspects - there's the shifty Alain de Bottom, Ms. Milliken, Mr. Babcock and Joan Laura Eve. Fortunately Barnaby has a whole bunch of amateur sleuths, there's Caldridge, Buchanty Pylon Man and L2C Spotter to name just three Watch this space. Les

Midsomer Norton is a town in B.A.N.E.S (Bath & North East Somerset) joined up with Radstock. It's not far from Bath. Have you not heard of it?
