Hello all,
I have just returned home from a wonderful week in Yorkshire. Apart from last Monday when it rained for most of the day, the weather was hot and sunny.
Yorkshire is a place where pylons will never be too far away.
For my stay I was based in Doncaster, but did a good deal of travelling. Naturally, pylons were on the photographic agenda, but I also visited some fantastic preserved railways.
Please click on the links below to view some of my humble photography.

A set of L3s march across the Yorkshire countryside. Photographed from the A635 Barnsley to Doncaster Road.

If my memory serves me correctly, these towers are on the route from Dunford Bridge heading east.

Old and new insulators on a deviation tower at Armthorpe, near Doncaster. This L6 tower is actually situated in a graveyard!

A close up of the quad conductors, spacer, dampers, arcing horns and a few insulators on a deviation tower.

A close up of the insulators, arcing horns and twin conductors.

A low height L12 tower in the Thirsk area of North Yorkshire.

A massive deviation tower photographed from the A616 at Stocksbridge, near Sheffield. The lines run from the substation which is behind me. Quad lines run off to the left, whilst twin conductors run off to the right.

Half of the quad lines from the deviation tower in the previous photograph run into the substation by means of this smaller tower.

Identification plate of L6 suspension tower 4ZH 20. This is on an industrial estate at Armthorpe, near Doncaster.
flic.kr/p/9Qtenx
L6 tower 4ZH 20 at Armthorpe. A large number of towers in this area have two sets of insulators on one side, and just one set on the other. The single set insulators are the newer ones.
flic.kr/p/9QtdV8
Towers heading west from Woodhead towards Stalybridge. This is where the old 1500 volt dc railway used to run from Sheffield to Manchester. At one time these were quad conductor lines, but are now twin lines.

L6 terminal tower at Woodhead.

The B6105 road to Glossop heads off from the A628 at Crowden. The L6 towers continue on their way to Stalybridge.

I do have some others, and will add them later.
Kind regards to all.
