Hello all, I had my annual pilgrimage to Ireland recently. Last year on my return home, I managed to lose my camera in the mile walk from the tube to my home. This year I made sure that the camera was 'welded' to me! I stayed in the Republic, but made a quick visit to Ulster. It was immediately obvious that the types of pylons in Ireland are different. In Eire the pylons are single and twin conductors. I never saw a triple or quad conductor line anywhere. I believe that the voltages are 110 and 220kV, although there may well be higher voltages on twin conductor lines. A large amount of single conductor lines are on poles, with the occasional pylon being used. In Ulster the pylons were pretty much the same as here, although all I saw were L1s and 2s. I have photographed a few, and (hopefully) they should be shown here. Kind regards Paul

The pylons in Northern Ireland are the same as the ones in the UK, but the ones in Republic Of Ireland are totally different. I found that out by looking on Google Maps. Where were these pictures taken?

Apologies for the delay in replying. Doing a 'whistle stop' tour of Ireland meant driving 2800 miles in just over a week. I should have made a note of where the pylon photographs were taken, but alas I didn't. Providing I don't need a mortgage to buy a pint of Guinness, I'll be over there again before the end of the year, and will note where the photographs were taken.
