I've been following the construction of the new GE Power Haul class 70 locomotives that are being built for the UK rail freight company Freightliner and I found this image of the next four locos 70003 - 006 loaded onto flat wagons with some nice pylons in the background www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=303221

This is ultimately how they get to the UK, they get craned into the hold of a beastie like heavy lift outfit Kahn Scheepvaarts (Jumboship) Fairlift here and taken to Bristol usually. Photo taken at telecoms outfit IT Telecom at Pier 9A, North Marginal Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia. AKA The "IT Intrepid Office". The offshore ticket being useful again getting past the security on the gate. Vessel headquartered here was built just down the road from my home at Wallsend... www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=8PSH== llandru.servehttp.com/Fairlift140307Les

Yes, and 70001 and 70002 were unloaded at Newport, Gwent docks last Saturday having travelled in BBC Kushan I think it was called and once commissioned on the dockside they have now been moved one to Bristol and one to Birmingham to begin driver training and as per my original photo 70003-006 are on their way and 70007-030 are in the process of being completed.
The book on the GM UK Class 66 locomotives gives a full breakdown of what locomotives travelled on which ship and when just in case you wanted to know ;D

I like the way this class looks (not at the cab fronts but in-between) like a pair of melded class 20s.

Not good news for the Class 70's lately, 2 have had fires. And add into the mix a few breakdowns.

I have to say, personally I think these look butt ugly. Class 37, 44, 45 all looked great. Class 66 looked slick... but these things ooouuch
