The Galloway Water Power Co. / SSEB's less well known but equally as ambitious 1930's Galloway Hydro system starts here at Loch Doon, near Dalmellington.
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234029.JPG
following the forest track up to the loch finds this "Special" PL1S60 ED51176 in deviation in dire need of a bit of paint!
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234031.jpg
Looking the other way finds this Blaw Knox PL1S2 ED51155(?) .
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234032.jpg
Following them down shows that these pylons are quite capable of large deviations in normal suspension components, these examples must be about as far as they can go (flashover risk) both examples are of the 'Dalmellington Type' PL1S10 series S10S ED51173 (from the Gorge website - Dr. Fortran).

Specimen example for PAS.

Crossing into SW Scotland with a PL1S2 ED51155 and Saint Quivox haulage outfit JST Services which are a familiar sight on the Scottish west coast - usually hauling logs. www.jstservices.co.uk/
OP emailed this outfit the full sized photograph and they seemed rather chuffed - the sign could be Photoshopped - OP got a thanks for your interest email

Interesting signage on a concrete bridge.
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234064.JPG
... for this very good reason. Note the salmon ladder - environmentalism in the 1930's!
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234068.JPG
In the turbine hall was this English Electric generator. Presumably the original equipment, still running after 70 years?
llandru.servehttp.com/TheGallowaySystem/P9234067.jpg
This power station gets its power out using a PL1b too.

Near Newton Stewart was this striking variation on an 11kv pole.

After this I started off home via the A75 and backroads via Longtown.
