Normally use an Olympus E-420 DSLR these days but also have an Olympus SP-550 megazoom 'prosumer' camera in the same camera bag (as it also takes video) if i'm truly desperate I can use my Samsung Tocco mobile or the Ipaq. Daughter #1 has the Canon A630 now it's retired from active duty and there was a Casio 3.3mp which was freecycled long ago. Before that it was an OM1 using 'film'. I'm something of an Olympus fan with an 35mm OM1 now gathering dust les

I used to use a Fuji S7000 and was rather fond of it. Most of my pylon pix are shot with this. However it ate batteries and I would always have 2 sets of rechargeables in my pocket for weekends away. Also, it couldn't handle a card of more than 2GB storage, which was a shame when my husband's main Xmas present to me was a bigger card Still for a non-DSLR it had plenty of options including full manual mode, I got some pretty good shots with it and have a soft spot for it. I still use it for video and sneaking in to gigs (I put it behind me - nobody ever asks a wheelchair user to stand up ) I now have a Canon EOS 450D and it took me a while to get to grips with it - having to learn what the features are and what has happened when I pressed a button by mistake - but on the other hand I can of course now fit the lenses I want, and shoot in Camera Raw so I can correct in photoshop if necessary. We have two batteries for it and this is usually sufficient for a 4 day festival etc. although to be honest that problem has gone away now that I use disabled camping areas because there are power points at the wheelchair recharge zones (tho of course wheelchairs get priority for them!) Of course, the 450D is much cleverer than I am...

I've got a Sony A100 as my DSLR as my main camera and I got it to replace my Minolta SLR with the advantage the Sony being able to reuse the lenses from the Minolta camera. I've also got a Fujifilm J12 8Mb compact camera and this is useful for having on me in my pocket. I tend to use the Sony for my main pylon photos and the Fuji for detail shots where needed. Same goes for my railway photos too.

I recommend anything by Panasonic with the "Intelligent Auto" feature. Just switch it on and away you go.
Edit: to clarify, I meant switch the Intelligent Auto (iA) feature on. It makes it hard to foul up!

I still use my old Nikon D100 with a variety of lenses along with a canon ixus 90is which lives permanently in my coat pocket.
