Everyone -
All pics taken with an Olympus E430 digital camera, one clever bit of kit.
This time I managed something that was more like a fieldtrip around the NE pylontastic place that's known as Blyth as I didn't have to worry about picking up SWMBO from the hairdressers
Starting with the A1:
Methinks these are the L66's marching from Blyth to Stella their construction is rather strange. There are photos further on which has these side by side with L2.

llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110953.jpg
No Stopping - somebody should make a 'I Stop For Pylons' sticker.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110954.jpg
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110956.jpg
On to West Hartford Business Park. Plenty of park but no business.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110958.JPG
Not a pylon but a wierd structure!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110965.JPG
This was on a pole.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110961.JPG
Back to the mystery 66KV NEEB pylons now.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110966.jpg
Route indicators?
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110967.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110968.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110970.JPG
A couple of these arty shots much loved by folks in this forum.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110971.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110972.JPG
... and off they march to Blyth - the mini NEEB PL1 tower visible here too.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110973.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110975.JPG
This is where they terminate.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110979.JPG
Moving on -
L2 /275KV and L4M / 66KV at Boghouses, on the other side of East Hartford. Also one very large gormless horse.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110980.jpg
Looking the other way.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110981.JPG
Moving on gets me this L66 D90!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110983.JPG
.... and the whole thing starts to get a bit crowded. L66, L2 and L4M from left to right.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110984.JPG
Things start entering the Twilight Zone from here on in.
L4M deviation tower / 66KV but with 132KV insulators.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110986.jpg
This one says Northern Electric!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110988.JPG
Things are starting to get crowded. From left to right -
PL16/66KV, PL16 / 66KV, L2 and NEEB mini PL1 for a better name
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110989.JPG
Another one:
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110990.JPG
Things get even busier here:
From left to right...
PL16 terminal tower, L4M, NEEB mini PL1, L2, L4M terminal tower, L66, PL16, NEEB mini PL1, PL16 and an L2! I think....
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110991.JPG
NEDL pylon power!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110992.JPG
The PL16 with the 132KV insulators had this at its base.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110993.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110994.JPG
The other one had this!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110995.JPG
I like PL16's.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110996.jpg
This baby had this nostalgia on it....
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3110997.JPG
The differences are plainly obvious in this. Ping Dr. Fortran it's an L2 on the left and an L66 on the right?
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111001.JPG
Moving on, near the QE Country Park gets this PL16 / 132KV on an extension amongst the swans and Canada geese. More later.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111003.jpg
L Y N E M O U T H....
This power station feeds the Alcan (Rio Tinto) plant nearby.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111004.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111005.JPG
Modified L7's (L7DD2?) march between the two facilities. There were a lot of CCTV cameras here so I made it a bit snappy!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111007.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111009.JPG
24KV and a lot of current.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111010.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111011.JPG
Looking the other way to the power station.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111013.JPG
Quite a sight!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111014.JPG
L8 / 275KV deviation tower near the smelter.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111018.JPG
... which march off towards Blyth.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111016.JPG
Also this PL16 / 132KV.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111017.JPG
Even this is a bit odd. I couldn't get near the substation there were guards everywhere but there's an L4M terminal tower in this amongst other things!
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111018.JPG
The other side of the road has this L4M deviation tower and a mix of PL16 / L4M off to the QE Country Park and then to christ knows where.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111020.jpg
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111022.JPG
Route Description: What's TD and TEED??
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111023.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111024.JPG
North Eastern Electricity Board, yay.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111025.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111026.jpg
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111027.jpg
The L8's were strange. 275KV, right?
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111028.jpg
The plate says NORTHERN ELECTRIC 132000 VOLTS, Eh? Same tower.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111029.jpg
Cool pics.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111030.JPG

llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111032.JPG
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111034.JPG
Going back down the A189 I was presented with this oddity. 66KV NEEB single pylon, right with a mini Milliken PL1?
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111037.JPG
A bit closer... 66kv?
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111038.jpg
erm, 132000V? Really.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111039.jpg
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111040.jpg
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111042.jpg
Whatever they are, off they go across the fields.
llandru.servehttp.com/aroundblyth2/P3111041.JPG
Enjoy!
