Thank you Nick, the substation is Daines at carrington, its such an amazing place 400,000 volts, the crackeling sound is brilliant.

I may go and have a look when the weather improves. I was taking photos of some powerlines up on the moors between Lancashire and my beloved Yorkshire today and it was a little wet and windy to put it mildly.

Thanks for the great comments everyone, i wish i could do this for a job!! i love taking photos ;D flash this is one of my favourite photos, there is so much going on, lots of amazing things to look at.

Excellent photos Rachel, Daines is a brilliant place and I see you managed to get some photos of the single arm terminal towers (L2 STs) from the other side of the fence My collection of photos from my own fieldtrip to Carrington and Daines is now complete and available for viewing - see other thread for info Cheers Paul
