Hi mikep, glad to be of assistance. Yes not sure the L8 designation is correct but if that is what WPD say they are then... but to me they look nothing like the L8 towers I know so well. I suspected that they might have ran at 275kV once upon a time. I wonder if they would be uprated again if the Ludlow end proved to be a useful location to tap into for these mid-Wales wind farms that they want to build and underground the cables from the farms to the Ludlow substation and uprate the power onwards to Bishop's Wood.
Interestingly the WPD map for their grid gives the route codes as XQ and XR.
